The vast majority of the world's poor are women. Two-thirds of the world's illiterates are female. Of the millions of school age children not in school, the majority are girls. And today, HIV/AIDS is rapidly becoming a woman's disease.
Studies show that when women are supported and empowered, all of society benefits. Their families are healthier, more children go to school, agricultural productivity improves and incomes increase. In short, communities become more progressive.
The empowerment of women has a great effect, especially in rural society, strengthening their voice in the community, forcing attention on human development issues of child rearing, education, health and gender disparity.

Empowering Women Key Initiatives
A Diwali mela was organized exclusively for Women where approximately 8000 women from the area participated. A Lucky Draw was also introduced and household articles like TVs and refrigerators were given away to women.
A lot of awareness is being spread about and against female foeticide in an attempt to increase the sex ration in the region. Monetary support is given to families having single girl child.
Self Help groups have been created to teach vocational courses such as stitching and cooking so that the women can become self dependant and survive on their own strength.
